The NFL offseason ensures a different outlook in American football online betting every year!

A few weeks ago I wrote an article discussing how important paying attention to the NFL offseason is If you like to bet on American football. This offseason has proven that point and then some, and we haven’t even gotten to the NFL draft yet. Some teams have improved with the moves they have made, and others have ensured that they will not be competitive this NFL football betting season by allowing key players to sign with other teams. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are one of those teams that have improved immensely, by adding potentially the best WR, CB and OL available in free agency (Jackson, Wright & Nicks). Last season the Bucs were so bad that they were constantly one of the most popular teams to pick against on the NFL point spread.

Another team that has drastically improved are the Denver Broncos. They did so by adding only 1 player; however, that player has to be one of the best QB’s of all time Peyton Manning. Because of him the Broncos have some of the best football betting odds to win the SuperBowl next season after being a bubble team last year with the same roster. While teams like the Bucs and Broncos have become much more appealing to those who bet on football games, teams like the Indianapolis Colts have done the exact opposite. There are roster moves almost daily around the NFL, so pay attention because the power rankings change with each important signing. Paying attention in the offseason is one of the most successful NFL football betting strategies out there!

Offseason might not have any pro football betting lines, but is a crucial part to success next season!

Many football fans decide to stop paying attention to football during the offseason because there isn’t any NFL football betting lines to wager on. However, although there aren’t any games going on, the offseason is far from irrelevant to NFL betting online.  In fact a secret to betting on football that many people do not realize is to simply pay close attention during the offseason to all the comings and goings around the league. The more you pay attention to the direction teams are heading in during the offseason, or which players are heading where, the better understanding you will have of each team during the regular season. So if you plan on using online football betting sites during the regular season why not get an early jump on it and start studying now! Not only is it beneficial for during the regular season while making American football bets on games. It also helps to make future picks when betting on NFL football by helping you take advantage of football betting odds for who will win the Superbowl, or each division. Paying attention to the rumors, and having a good idea where certain key free agents will sign, will give you a head start and get better odds on those future bets than bettors who don’t pay attention during the offseason.  So pay attention, because the early bird gets the worm!

Online NFL football betting tips: Don’t underestimate Special Teams

One of the NFL football betting strategies you should always remember is to never underestimate the impact that special teams could have when betting football online. One of the most common mistakes when betting on NFL football is to focus on solely on one aspect of the game. Many bettors take teams with great offenses, even though they have bad defenses, or bet on team with good defenses that aren’t able to score points. The perfect pro football betting line would be on a team that is good at all aspects of the game, offense/defense and even special teams! That way you are covered from all angles, and you won’t be disappointed by one area of the team that is lacking. Bettors learnt that the hard way last week if they placed a wager on the 49ers or Ravens. The 49ers lost the game due to 2 punt return fumbles, while the Ravens lost due to a missed FG by Cundiff in the dying seconds. Professional football betting comes down to big plays each and every single week, and special teams have the most big-play potential of any plays in football. So the next time you go to your football betting services, be sure to keep that in mind. As special teams tend to play a very important part of football betting NFL or college, as they decide field position, and provide some of the biggest momentum swinging plays in all of football.

The American Football online betting season is on the home stretch

The American football betting season might be coming to an end, but this shouldn’t be seen as a bad thing for bettors, in fact they should be excited about this time of year. The weeks of professional football betting might be running out, but the quality of the pro football betting line’s are never going to be better. Whether you bet on the NFL or you are more into college football betting, this is the time of year where the games matter most. When it comes to college football the regular season is completely done, so we are officially in bowl season. So from now on all of the college football betting lines offered from now on will feature teams that have their own “superbowls” to play for, they will be giving it 100% into the one remaining game no matter what. When it comes to the NFL, with only 4 weeks left until the playoffs, you could expect much of the same from every single team in playoff contention. So for the next few weeks, every single NFL point spread involving contending teams, will offer value that wasn’t there earlier on in the season. The reason for that is simple, as games at this point of the year, become must-wins. So keep that in mind for the rest of the season, because you might want to be careful betting against teams who has their playoff lives are at stake! Either way, enjoy the rest of the season!

Online NFL football betting: Will the real Baltimore Ravens please stand up?

Every week this year, we have tried to point out a football sports betting trend in order to help the readers be more successful. This week the trend is the constant ups and downs of the Baltimore Ravens. This season the Ravens have been the perfect example of inconsistency in pro football betting. 2 weeks ago the Ravens beat the Steelers for the 2nd time this year, and looked like one of the top teams in the league. This week the Ravens managed to lose to the lowly Seahawks in which they trailed nearly the entire game. This isn’t the 1st time the Ravens have done that this year. When the Ravens are matched up against a strong team, they are about as much of a sure thing as you can get in football lines betting. The Ravens have beaten every top team they have played…Steelers, Jets, Texans and then the Steelers again, in fact they won 3 of them by more than 2 touchdowns! However, when the Ravens have been matched up against bad teams and been huge football betting odds favorites the Ravens have not only not covered, but have lost most of them! The Ravens have now lost game to the Titans, Jaguars and Seahawks. When you consider the fact that they almost lost to the Cardinals a few weeks ago, it becomes clear that there is clearly something wrong with this Ravens team. Baltimore seems to play to the level of the opposition; they play bad against bad teams, and great against great teams. In order for them to be taken seriously as one of the top teams when it comes to professional football betting, they will need to be a lot more consistent. A secret to betting on football is knowing specifics about a team, and knowing how they play against weaker competition is a very important part of that.

Expect the unexpected when it comes to NFL football betting!

On Sunday, the New England Patriots had won 20 straight games at home in the regular season, and they were facing a Giants team that almost lost to the Dolphins a week ago. So if there seemed to be a lock last week when it came to betting on NFL football the Patriots seemed to be it. But as happens so often in football betting NFL or college (most of the huge upsets come from college football betting lines), a team that looks like it has no chance to win finds a way to pull out a victory. Last week the Giants ended the 20 game home winning streak by the Patriots, and it wasn’t the first time they have done it to the Pats. In fact, this isn’t the 1st time that the Giants have ended a long winning streak for New England. In Superbowl 42, the Giants ended the Patriots bid for a perfect season with a loss in the championship game. Something about the New York Giants defense seems to trouble Brady and Belicheck, like not many other teams can. Every star player or team seems to have a team that they struggle against, and the Giants seem to have Brady’s number. Knowing which teams a player struggles against, and utilizing that to examine football betting odds is actually a secret to betting on football. So pay attention next time, because you never know when the next big upset is going to happen!

Rams turn the online sports betting world upside down by beating the Saints!

Last Sunday the Rams pulled off one of the biggest upsets in NFL football betting all year, by upsetting the heavily favored Saints. Why was this such a big upset? Well let’s see…first off, the Rams were 0-6, while the Saints were leading their division at 5-2. The week before the Saints absolutely dominated the Colts, by blowing them out 62-7! The Rams, on the other hand, had just lost 34-7 to the Cowboys. Drew Brees was unstoppable the week before and with the opposition being led by AJ Feeley, the Saints seemed like the biggest lock when it came to pro football betting line ‘s last week.

But once again as is proven time and time again, when it comes to betting on NFL football there is no such thing as a sure thing! The Rams were led by S. Jackson, who ran all over the Saints, and the Rams D gave Brees lots of problems causing him to turn the ball over multiple times. This game was really never close at all, the Rams not only won in the end, but led the entire game. There was literally no stat line at all that would have pointed to the fact that the Rams might upset the Saints. But many people believe the Rams were motivated and given a boost by the appearance of the World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals! Factors such as that show that sometimes football can be affected by other factors or sports, keep that in mind the next time you visit one of your online sports betting websites. Always remember that no matter how tempting or sure a bet could look, there is never a guarantee in professional football betting so don’t be afraid to pick a few upsets!

College football betting trends: Week 8

Online college football gambling had some HUGE surprises this week and those games completely flipped the NCAA upside down. There will be more movements in the rankings this week, than any other week guaranteed. Two of the top 5 teams (Oklahoma & Wisconsin) in the country suffered losses that essentially eliminated them from the National Championship equation.  College football betting lines don’t get much bigger against a team like Texas Tech, then the 29 points Oklahoma was favored by this week. 29 points is a lot of points and I highly doubted that Oklahoma would cover, however, I didn’t think they had a chance in hell of losing the game. Oklahoma was considered the top team in the nation, and a favorite to play in the BCS championship. They have Heisman candidate Landry Jones, Biletnikoff candidate Ryan Broyles, and one of the best defensive players the country has to offer in Travis Lewis. And they had won 39 straight games at home, winning games by an average of 30 points. In other words, Oklahoma was as sure of a bet you could find in college football betting. Texas Tech was an unranked team, and came into one of the most hostile environments in football and managed to not only keep it close, but they won!

For those who bet on Oklahoma, Saturday was a really tough night, because from the 1st quarter on it was obvious that there was no way the Sooners were going to cover the spread, the only question was whether or not they would come back to win. One thing is for sure though, Oklahoma is going to be an angry and extremely motivated team for the rest of the year. Those are 2 great qualities that you want to look for in a team to pick in football betting on line.

This game was a perfect example of why I always say the secret to betting on football is to know that there is no such thing as a sure thing in football betting NFL or college.

Online NFL Football betting trends to look for in week 6: QB Carousel

If you are looking to bet on football games next weekend in the NFL, then you should definitely be aware of the QB carousel that has been going on around the league in the past week. This week there will potentially be 7 games where a backup will become the starter, due to ineffective play or injury. The Dolphins, Raiders will have a new starter this week due to injury. Moore will replace Henne for Miami, and Boller will replace Campbell for the time being in Oakland. 2 other teams might be affected by injuries to the QB as both the Seahawks’ Jackson and the Rams’ Bradford are questionable this week. 3 other teams could have new starting QB’s this week as well, however, these would be due to ineffective play from the incumbents instead of due to injury. Tebow will be taking over for Kyle Orton as the starter for the Broncos, a move Broncos fans have wanted for a long time. Then there is Beck and Ponder potentially taking over, after both Grossman and McNabb were pulled last week due to poor play, and outperformed by their respective backups. Why is this so important to betting on NFL football? No position on the football field can affect football lines betting wise as much as the Quarterback position! Every single offensive play goes through the QB, and in some of these cases a different QB might mean a different offensive gameplan altogether. For example with Boller in the Raiders seemed to take more chances downfield, or with Tebow in the Broncos could expect less accuracy but more big plays. All of these things could dramatically affect the outcome of games, so while you are looking at the football betting odds in the weekend keep all of that in mind. So keep this in mind because injuries and key personnel missing is crucial knowledge to have in online sports betting in general, not just football.

Online NFL Football Betting Trends: Week 5

This week the NFL was back to how it started this season, as once again it was a week of the favorites and overs, much like weeks 1 and 2. With bye weeks starting in the NFL this week there were less NFL point spread ‘s available to bet on. So when you look at the fact that in 3 less games favorites managed to cover the same amount of spreads as last week, it becomes clear that the top teams played much better this week. Favorites went 8-5 in week 5, which was pretty impressive considering that there were 6 spreads over 5 or more points.

However, the biggest trend of Week 5 in nfl football betting was in the totals, as overs stole the show. Overs went 9-4! In fact 2 of the games that went under, did so barely as a combined 4.5 points was all that separated the overs from going 11-2. Only 1 out of 26 teams this week failed to score 10 points, and 9 out of 13 games had both teams score 20+ points. So if you are planning on betting on NFL football, hen going with an under bet might be something you want to be careful with.

Now the reason I always warn you against betting on a big moneyline favorite was proven yet again this week! Three underdogs by 3+ points, not only managed to cover the spread but also won the games straight up! Those winning dogs were Seattle and Oakland. Seattle was a whopping 10 point underdog, and managed to beat the Giants by 11, meaning they covered the spread by 21 points!!!! The other winning dog was Oakland, who beat a very solid Houston team, and much of it had to be attributed to the news of the passing of Al Davis (Raiders owner). This is the kind of game I warn people about betting against teams that are playing with extra motivation or just suffered an emotional loss in football sports betting.

So what pro football betting advice could you take from the trends in week 5? 2011 seems to be the year of the favorites and overs, and also to be careful when betting big moneyline favorites.
